Will Taking CBD Cause Me to Fail a Drug Test?

Arrow Thin Left Icon

A common question we get here at DirectHemp.com is if taking CBD will cause a person to fail a drug test. This is an understandable question because, after all, CBD does come from the Cannabis Sativa plant. (Remember that a Cannabis Sativa plant with less than 0.3% THC is considered hemp by definition.)

In our experience, it is very, very rare for someone to fail a drug test by only using CBD products, but it is not entirely unheard of. One thing to note here is that "At-Home Drug Tests" will often-times produce a false-positive test result. This is because most at-home kits are not very sophisticated and are only testing for the presence of a cannabinoid and are not testing specifically for THC. So, if you do "fail" an at-home test, don't panic. Just send your test into the lab for further analysis to confirm.

If you are concerned about drug testing and want to be confident you have nothing to fear, we recommend using products made from isolate. At DirectHemp.com, these are easy to identify by looking for the "THC-Free" icon on the product page. You can also filter by this when shopping to only see these products.

If you decide you do want to use a full-spectrum product with up to 0.3% THC, you still have little to worry about when it comes to failing a test. Remedy Review wrote that doses exceeding 2,000mg or more in one day may also produce a failed test. It is very uncommon for one person to use this much in a day but it is something we wanted to point out.
